Your head hits the pillow and mine pops up
I’m going nowhere fast and it’s because you’re not here
I go through days in a fog
Wishing for a clearing
An airing out of you
No matter how much wine I drink
Or how many other eyes I get lost in
You’re right there staring back at me
I booked a trip to a far off land
To get away for awhile
To lounge in the love of other strangers
And mind music
Are drowning out the sounds of my reality
Pulling me back into the past of our yesterday
No matter what I do to try and get away you’re always there
So to pay you back for your unwillingness to leave
I will sleep and haunt your dreams
Role reversal mind control
When your eyes close I will be there
Stealing the oxygen from your air
Removing the pleasure and comfort of slumber
When you wake your senses will be on overload
Wondering where I am and what I’m doing
I will come to you when day turns dark consecutively for one thousand nights
Thats how many times you kissed me
If you then don’t leave my consciousness
I will return to dampen your dreams for three thousand additional nights
As that is the number of times we connected oh so intimately
If you refuse to leave me alone
I will haunt you forever as
Unfortunately that is the time frame that I will always love you
We can do this dance for eternity
I may not have the patience
But I have the time
You sleep, I dream
About ways to be rid of you
Perhaps we can wake together one day
To discuss the pain of our past
Heal it and move on to the fun of the future
Together or apart
We need closure so we both can
Dream in peace

Thanks so much! I appreciate your comment! Have a great day!
I love the movement in this piece & the tempo works well. The idea of one sleeping and one dreaming is clever. Go poet!! More, more!!
Thanks Creative Cookie! Your comments mean the world to me. Can’t wait to see you!
Tameka, WOW!! Your words are the words I’ve been trying to spit out for some time. I loved your poem… Brought me back to a place, I loved, still dream about but know it’s best to just let go of..
Thanks so much Debbie! I had been trying to say this for a while too! These words pulled me out of my sleep much too early today and I’ve been writing ever since. I think our words are always there but sometimes we need a trigger. 😉
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments!
