Life has a way of throwing us about the walls of it’s structure, bruising us from top to bottom, soothing us with lushness and lulling us into feeling so damn safe, warm, loved even and then…
A broken tooth explodes in our mouths exposing the roots to cold air and liquor and blood drips down swirling through the crevices of our souls and leaves a trail enticing wolves and bears to hunt us down. Life’s challenges people. Here are some of life’s challenges…
GREEN GLASS (envy)
a dig done from a distance
after effects are so loud
eyes may be blinded
the soul feels it all
cells hear it deep inside
hugs are so distant
a bite on the ear signaling interest
is just a precursor to a stab
a back rub feels so good
nails scrape across the landscape of skin
recipient is a freak so
she
never
feels
the poison
seep into the wounds
BUBBLE GUTS (greed)
labels, labels, labels
gucci, gucci, gucci,
fake fame, fake fame, fake fame
campbell soup art, campbell soup art, campbell soup art,
division of connection
weekly showcase on Bravo
skinny girl twinkies
andy warhol multiplied by three
then six
then 10
KEYSTROKE GANGSTERS (insecurity)
covered in conviction
chained by invisibility
shrouded in past pain
draped
dropped
dragged
beaten
stuck

Hello from Typepad!
Creativity at its best, Tameka. Loved your three poems about life’s challenges;envy, greed and insecurity. The depth of your words makes for very interesting reading… intense poems.
Thanks so much Sulekha! I’m going to extend this series. I will talk about life’s pleasures next! 🙂
