NaPoWriMo 2012 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – Day Seven
Sometimes poetry takes on different meanings for the poet and the reader. This one means just what you think it does. Enjoy:
Rock, Sugar, Salt
texture, form and taste
bond in places
tight
fraught with urgency
smooth, hard
some with curves
brown, shades of paleness
multicultural
longing for constant comfort
warmth
acceptance
constrained by cotton
sometimes silk
willful
relentless
leads
never follows
always probing deeper
insistent
assertive
stubborn
addictive
soft
slick when stimulated
circular
elongated
discerning
accommodating
fond of pearls
holder of jewels
keeper of the king
dismissive
inviting
circle of life
enigmatic
tempermental
high maintainence
thick
white
substantive
lava-like
headstrong
life-juice
damp
rainbow’esque
always sticks the landing
waits for no man

Wow, I’m intrigued that people are mystified by the meaning of this work. I will explain Mani, I just want to wait and see if anyone will get it first.
Hmmm, not sure if Andy got it for sure either, but he seems to have liked it so… Lol. 🙂
Sorry the blog was acting up, sometimes technology is finicky. Glad you were able to stop by today Mani, I appreciate it.
Thanks also Andy as well for your comments. I am wondering if you got the meaning. 🙂
A profoundly written poem about three common objects. 🙂
You are a magician Tameka Williams – you really are
I see that Irene understands. Thanks lady! Yes, three essential things! Happy Easter to you! 🙂
Hi Kriti! Thanks so much. I will send you an email shortly. 🙂
Maybe it’s me, Tameka, but this is sexy and erotic, in my view. But it could be my dirty mind! ;p I have found that even if I’m being straightforward and crystal clear, some of my poems are misunderstood. We fuss over our poems, agonizing over choosing the right words, but I truly believe that once a poem is released into the world, it has a life of its own, and interpretation is up to the individual reader.
Ding, ding, ding! Sweepy gets the prize. Like I said, it means what you think it means. (wink, wink) I will give my meaning after a few more comments. You are so right about interpretation Sweepy. Sometimes after I write something someone else will come along and give a different perspective than what I had in the creation. That is the magic of poetry. It is bigger than all of us. Even the creator learns and is exposed to different meanings through others. That is why poetry is meant to be shared.
