The time to express yourself in poetry is upon us! Today is April 1st and that means it’s the start of National Poetry Month! Yes! There are many ways people can celebrate, but some choose to participate in NaPoWriMo, (National Poetry Writing Month) which is a 30-day poetry writing challenge.
The poems can be any style or length, but if you would like to follow daily prompts, visit the official NaPoWriMo website for instructions and inspiration.
I usually freelance and come up with my own ideas, but today I chose to do a mash-up of the site’s prompt, which is “carpe diem” and April Fools’ Day. What better way to usher in April than with some poetry! Seize the day! Enjoy!
Fool For Love (Haiku)
April’s fool wears red.
An easy target for laughs.
Take heart, it’s all love.
For more delicious servings of poetry this month, please visit these bloggers as they are also participating in NaPoWriMo!

If we have to be a fool for anything, it might as well be love! Nice one, Tameka, great start! <3
Well said.

Great way to kick off! Good luck!

How delightful. Tell them, there’s no need to be angry red we all play the fool for love at some point.
I’ll be a fool for love anytime, April or not. So looking forward to reading your poems through the month, Tameka.
Andy, you are the man! Taking on two writing challenges this month! Whoo hoo! Thanks so much for your visits. I treasure each one. I will be on your page a lot this month for sure. 🙂
Hey Jenni! You got that right girl. I have definitely been there. I need to make my way over to your blog. Looking forward to your poems this month as well. 🙂
Corinne! Yes indeed lady! Me too! I didn’t say that too loud did I? LOL! Looking forward to your work as well. I love April. What fun! 🙂
Oooo, thanks for the explanation Tameka. I was asking Andy the same thing yesterday, since I was expecting to read only one poetry form.
We don’t really celebrate April Fool’s day and I do not enjoy practical jokes :P…LOL, if it’s red and is love, then I’d probably like it 😉
