lost in a story
sinking down between pages
ink covered hands
shake & tremble
leaning into language
stumbling over sentences
tears drop staining the commas
blurring the separation between fiction & life
covered in stanzas
soaked in diameter
rushing, running, flipping
through the time-line
you sit inanimately on the window sill
but still invade my thoughts
sending me softly into a deep pleasure state
rousing my reverie
i never want you to end

I could not agree with you more Tameka…I too love books, the smell of them, the feel of them, the texture of the pages…and yes, the stories within. Your post echos your phrase ” Sinking down between pages”…love your style…
It is from books that wise people derive consolation in the troubles of life.
Victor Hugo
Beautifully written…once in a while I get a chance to open your blog, for some reason unknown, and today happened to be a good one,and I could view your post.
very well pined. think will not dry but will run whit the tear i will cry of joy. thank you for a beautiful poem god bless
If I didn’t have dust allergies I might be found cuddling with a book instead of my Blackberry. lol
This was beautiful Tameka, books give us something that few humans ever do… a constant place to call home.
My daughter agrees with you @Raven. She has never owned a Kindle or used one but, she tells me constantly that she never wants one. She’d much rather have a book to cling to.
Thanks Raven! I was listening to some music this morning and this poured out. Love your visits to Lyric Fire!
Alpana, I’m so sorry my blog gives you trouble with access! I’m glad you were able to visit today. Such a beautiful quote by Victor Hugo. Thanks for stopping by. I miss your writing as well dear. I haven’t seen any posts by you in a while.
Roy, thank you! What a lovely verse! So happy with the love this post has inspired. I guess we are all suckers for book lust/love!
Hey Jenni, sorry you have allergies! I can’t lie, I do have the Kindle app on my phone and do read some books on it, but I love the feel of books in my lap and hands. Turning the pages feels better than swiping the screen. Sometimes I cheat on books with the Kindle, but I’d never divorce books! Never!
In my jiffy of disdains

Ha! Ha! I hear you Manisha! Book lovers never go to bad alone! I READ that somewhere once! Cheers!
Yes, Andy! Can’t you tell? Thanks for the visit. I will be making the blog rounds during the week and look forward to your offerings. Enjoy your day!
love the rhythm of the lines and the seductive power of words in your poem.
”blurring the separation between fiction & life
covered in stanzas
soaked in diameter
rushing, running, flipping
through the time-line” wow!
It’s a big brother to the Amazon Kindle that we know and love and is a direct competitor to BlackBerry’s PlayBook and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. As well as that larger iPad 2 thing, of course.
Hi Matthew. Electronic devices can never compete with books. As much as I LOVE the bells and whistles, a book will always be my friend. 🙂
