I have been super busy recruiting corporate walk teams and garnering sponsorships and refreshment donations for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk which is taking place in New York next Sunday, October 17th. So busy in fact that my blog’s birthday slipped right past me. Lyric Fire was born six days ago last year and I’m so proud of her achievements.
Growth has been slow, but steady and I am proud of the work that has come out of this creative forum. I’ve connected with some amazing artists and writers, opened my soul and shared some of my most personal poetry and have tackled some social events and issues. Your feedback and comments have been so generous and thoughtful. I am truly thankful for those of you who follow Lyric Fire.
I have a little over 100 followers on NetworkedBlogs, 2300 site hits and I’m now growing a Facebook audience as well.
I didn’t have any goals for this blog other than to have a place where I can totally expose myself through my writing whenever and wherever I wanted to. I have way more than what I had hoped for. I have my creative outlet, but I’m also cultivating an artistic community that feeds me as much as I hope I’m able to nourish them.
So, I didn’t have my blog party or a site re-vamp like I had planned, but that will be on tap for next year along with some other nice surprises.
So in the meantime, please… If you’re in New York on Sunday, October 17th, please participate or make a donation to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The American Cancer Society is making sure there are more birthdays each year by fighting breast cancer with research and life-saving programs. But this type of work takes dedicated people who will not only raise awareness, but also dollars.
If you can’t make the walk, please consider stopping into one of these following Borders Books locations on October 15th or 16th:
461 Park Ave,
10 Columbus Circle,
2 Penn Plaza,
100 Broadway,
576 2nd Avenue,
80-16 Cooper Ave, Atlas Park, Glendale, NY,
2655 Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY
The American Cancer Society and Borders Bookstores in New York are teaming up to raise funds and awareness to help fight breast cancer. Anyone who buys BOOKS at the specified area Borders above on October 15th & 16th 2010 will be supporting the 17th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk as proceeds from sales will be donated to The American Cancer Society. The monies will be used to fund breast cancer research programs. Customers will need to bring in the Borders Benefit Voucher below to receive credit for their purchase.

Again, thanks so much for reading Lyric Fire. I truly appreciate your readership. Being that this is Breast Cancer Awareness month, please do something in honor of someone who has battled this disease. Whether it’s buying a book at Borders, walking, or perhaps lighting a candle in remembrance or saying a recovery prayer. It all counts. Blessings to you.
Cheers!
