Lyric Fire: NaPoWriMo 2012 – Day 15 of 30 Poems in 30 Days – Light Walker

NaPoWriMo 2012 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – Day 15

Happy Sunday! Fifteen down and fifteen more to go! I’m jazzed that I am at the mid-point of this poetry challenge. Do you ever look at your life and see that it’s not where you want it to be, but you are amazed at how far you’ve come and even though you may be having a setback, you still have great optimism for your future because you know you are a child of God? Well, that’s how I’m feeling, so today’s piece was written in the vein of a gospel song and I’m giving God all of the praise! I hope this coming week brings you all closer to your dreams! I will be coming at you with more poetry for the next two weeks, but for now, please enjoy this poem and feel free to sing, clap your hands and stomp your feet while reading. He is worthy to be praised!

Light Walker

Thank you Jesus for my he(ART)!

Thank you Jesus for my soul!

Thank you Jesus for my feet!

Thank you Jesus for my nose!

I’m walking in your light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

I’m walking in your light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

The only reason that I’m awake

Is because you created day

I just crossed the finish line

But that’s because you created time

I’m walking in your light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

I’m walking in your light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

I’m so blessed to have pretty hair

But I know my God put it there

They also say that I can write

But I hold the pen by his grace of might

I’m walking in his light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

I’m walking in his light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

Sure as day I get tired

But only God can bring me through the fire

By his side I escape unscathed

Walking tall on the path he laid

I’m walking in his light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

I’m walking in his light! (Clap, clap, clap!)

So, so glad to give up this fight

God’s got it handled, so there is no fright

I can breathe and live in peace

Knowing God’s love will never cease

God please continue to be my light!

Amen and amen! I haven’t been to church in a long time, but this brought me right back, all the way to when I was a girl. I feel your spirit in this beautiful hymn. Thanks, Tameka, and God bless! <3

  6. Hi, Tameka! ~
This is EXACTLY how I’m feeling about my health issues TODAY: “Do you ever look at your life and see that it’s not where you want it to be, but you are amazed at how far you’ve come and even though you may be having a setback, you still have great optimism for your future because you know you are a child of God?”

Amen and amen indeed! Sometimes when I feel the need to be down or complain it makes it better if I sing a gospel song. It always helps so I made up my own. Glad you feel the spirit Sweepy. Thanks! 🙂
