Firefly – NaPoWriMo – Day 6

firefly-nights-poetry

Are you ready for some more poetry? The answer has to be yes, because it’s National Poetry Month! You should be carrying a poem in your pocket, flitting like a firefly, reading some of your favorite poems everyday, singing and speaking in a poetic flair, you know, the whole bit. It’s truly a fabulous time to celebrate the magic of poems, poets, lyrics and lines.

With that in mind, the prompt on the NaPoWriMo site today suggests that we write a poem about food, but I’ve done that already this week so I created this instead:

a firefly’s dreams sizzle

illuminating the graphite night

then dissolving into invisibility

inspiring further fantasies

mystery

returning many times over

to tease the imaginations

of weary vagabonds

restoring them to life

inducing elevated thought

injecting euphoria
