I Shutter

Here is my letter to our digital world

To some, Google is a gallery

Pixels over presence
Jpegs above journeys

But

True collections live offline
Waiting to be captured

Collected like peonies
Treasured but
Priceless

Assembled on optic walls
Admission is free

Conversations and confessions
Exhibit A

Walk through
Gaze and interpret

Jump in
Become one with the living
Art
That you see on the daily

Unplug

Then

Like, double tap, + and retweet
Share from the soul

  1. Love collected like peonies – very cool letter for the prompt!

    • TamekaMullins says:

Thanks so much for your kind words! I enjoyed the concept of the challenge.

  2. This is very good Tameka, you have captured very clearly the digital world we live, its availability its relevance to our everyday. Well done.

    • TamekaMullins says:

Hello summerstommy2. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to read it. As a lover of all things digital, I have to remind myself to put away the devices from time to time.

  3. If I could hit “like” a dozen times, I would. I worry about lives lost to digital worlds, but what would we do without them? We wouldn’t be sharing poetry on line, would we? It all comes down to balance.

    • TamekaMullins says:

Thanks Victoria. Nice to make your acquaintance. I have the same feelings. Balance is the key. The digital universe has brought us so much closer in a lot of ways, but if we misuse it, it can tear us apart.

Love the irony of a poem about unplugging being posted online 🙂 Great piece!
I do agree, though, that we are becoming too disconnected

flowers and tech – such an incongruous pair but you pulled it off nicely.

    • TamekaMullins says:

So true. We use one to capture the other, but we should admire nature more with our own eyes. Thanks for the visit!

  6. rythaephua says:

  7. C.C. says:

This is a great idea/response to the prompt and the title you’ve chosen is extremely clever. Loved your word choices within the letter too 🙂

  8. TamekaMullins says:

Hello C.C. – Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments!

  9. Great point–pixels can capture much, but not everything!

  10. mhm… nothing compares to living OUTSIDE, and not just thru a screen… we’ve lost so much communication bcus of social media, but there’s a lot we have gained as well… ups and downs…

Btw I know you from twitter 🙂 heyyy Tameka! is this your 1st time joining dverse?

    • TamekaMullins says:

Hi there my Twitter friend! Yes! This is my first time. I had heard about it, but I am finally joining in on the fun. Nice to connect with you here as well. 🙂

  11. Abhra says:

Digital memories have increased at least exponentially over years – and yes so much of real memories live outside. Thank you for joining my prompt and pick such an unique subject.

    • TamekaMullins says:

Hi Abhra. Thanks for creating such a wonderful community of writers! I will be visiting more often.

  12. So true.. with all the fears of the digital world blocking the human flesh and blood
connection.. that connection does have wires now.. to connect the flesh and blood
with the rest of the world as whole.. as cosmic collective intelligence of consciousness
becomes a reality true.. where digit and art become one finger of truth and light
for all.. who have access to BLC, Broadband Internet Love..:)

  13. TamekaMullins says:

Yes, yes! You are preaching a word! I so agree!

  14. Dusty Writes says:

    Oh this is Marvelous!
