#NaPoWriMo 2012 – Day 25 of 30 Poems in 30 Days – Axis of Ever

UPDATE: I’m sharing this poem that I created during NaPoWriMo 2012 for today’s dVerse Open Link Night.  It’s funny to look at work you created in the past to see where your head was and how sharp your writing chops were.

Also, if anyone is inclined, please also take at look at some recent news I shared about my novel that I’m working to get published. I look forward to reading some great poetry from everyone else as well.

NaPoWriMo 2012 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – Day 25

I’m in one of those “artsy moods” today so clarity is a luxury that I can’t afford. A perfect place to work these feelings out is in the writing so here goes. I hope you can understand:

Axis of Ever

Particles floating around in the now

Penetrate the ever

Flow into the ether

Slip into sound

Never bound

Weightless

Seeping

Drawing of breath

Sweetness covers

Traps

Sealing out

All others

Chemically altering reason

Dissecting and splitting off into selfishness

Spinning into a microcosm of

Ever

Merging into madness

Cradling crazy

Biding time

Until

Ever becomes

Unbearable

Then

Energy seeks

The comfort

Of a warm host

A home neglected

Shuttered and closed

Filled with bombs

Set to blow

Ever better not come

Around here

There will be an explosion

Consciousness will splatter

Into a gorgeous design

Art that

No one ever wants to grace their walls

The ever that was created

Needs to now stand

Alone

Breathing their own oxy generations

Tiling the earth of their creation

For

Ever

  1. Andy says:

    My dream friend,
You have a GREAT imagination!! You had me smiling more at the end. Great job as always.

  2. Hey Andy! I was in a different place today! Thanks for being patient with me. 🙂

  3. Sanaa Rizvi says:

You had me at the opening lines.. such a wonderful write 🙂

  4. s says:

    These are my favorite sections:

    “Energy seeks
    The comfort
    Of a warm host”

    “Ever better not come
    Around here
    There will be an explosion
    Consciousness will splatter”

  5. X says:

Have you ever heard the song “Through the Never” by Metallica?
When I read this earlier I was trying to put my finger on the song that was running in the back of my mind and there it is. Of course you use Ever, but there is that same sense of movement in this. Obviously this is abstract – I can feel the shifting and morphing throughout though.

    • TamekaMullins says:

No, I haven’t, but I’m curious to take a listen now. Thanks for sharing that.

    • TamekaMullins says:

I’m listening to the song now and I love it! It does remind me of my poem. Coolness! ?

  6. Grace says:

I admire the lines that S said above me ~ I felt that the ever energy was about to explode into a storm ~ Admire the energy in your words ~

  7. Glenn Buttkus says:

Love the title, conjures up the alternative, SPOKES OF NOW. This abstract piece hauled me along through its marvelous machinations.

  8. Mary says:

I really appreciate the creativeness here….and the strength of your writing.

  9. kanzensakura says:

I have missed you! It is always interesting to read an earlier write. I am going back to a notebook of 20 years ago and some of them have me saying…really? I was THAT pretensious? LOL. I like the abstract, weaving tone of this.

    • TamekaMullins says:

I’ve missed you as well. I work as a digital marketing manager and most times at the end of the day I’m pooped. But I will make it to dVerse more often. It is a sanctuary and we all need the healing that poetry can bring. Lol! Yes, I have read some of my earlier work and had many a cringe fests! But, we write to grow do we not? 😉

      • kanzensakura says:

Yes we do. I imagine you are pooped at the end of the day. Before I retired, I’d almost cry on the drive home. Now I’m looking go back to work on short term engineering projects. My husband thinks I’m crazy.

    Good stuff!

    • TamekaMullins says:

Thank you! I remember being very stressed the day I wrote this and it helped me calm down. Glad you enjoyed it.

  11. I really like the way it feels like slipping into a dream, and then waking up, the way you work with ever make me feel that even that is just relative.

    • TamekaMullins says:

Hey Bjorn! How are you? Thanks so much. I love your feedback. It always makes me think deeper about my work and writing in general.

  12. Raivenne says:

I called the Lord’s name in vain reading that. The entire write resounds with me, but where most of it was ethereal in feel, these lines were so very physical, in contrast. I *felt* this.

    • TamekaMullins says:

Wow! Thank you! I felt your response to it as well. It feels good when readers get it and have strong responses to your work as you know. Thanks again dear!

  13. Beautifully written! I especially liked these lines:
    “Merging into madness
    Cradling crazy”
