Lyric Fire: NaPoWriMo 2012 – Day 10 of 30 Poems in 30 Days – Sancheeta’s Diary

NaPoWriMo 2012 – 30 Poems in 30 Days – Day 10

On day 10 of National Poetry Month, I’m feeling deep pain. I belong to a vibrant and beautiful blogging community that is filled with poets, writers, photographers and other artists and I learned yesterday that we had lost one of our own. A bright light and sensitive soul, Sancheeta Biswas.

As writers we share our most intimate thoughts, beliefs, desires and wishes along with things we create from pure imagination that have nothing and sometimes everything to do with us. The fun part as a reader is trying to figure out what is true of the writer and what is fiction. As I was only connected to Sancheeta through writing as miles separated us, I can only imagine what her true joys and fears were, but I was indeed blessed to have the connection that I had as she was very supportive of my writing. I will always remember her kind words, thoughtful reflections and most of all her sensitive, sensual and poetic writing. Today’s poem is dedicated to her memory and is entitled, Sancheeta’s Diary. Sancheeta you will be forever missed dear one.

Sancheeta’s Diary

i await her hands

soft and precious

they hold me with great care

i anticipate her touch

daily

because when i feel the warmth

i know

adventure is at hand

i travel far inside

the mind of sunny souls

cold black hearts

gold mines

valleys

paradise and back

via her imagination

i am always traveling

even though sometimes

i am still

i long

i ponder

where will she take me today

i transport myself in her absence

into her pysche

i am there

one with her

i am the keeper

of her dreams

secrets

admirations

and aspirations

i know how dear

she holds her daughter

her family

and her friends

i know her fears

she teaches

i listen

i learn

i glean

i am in awe

i look deep into

fierce piercing eyes

as she looks deeply

into me to my spine

after unleashing her thoughts

she seeks answers

i can only provide

an outlet

it has been a few days

i long for her fingers

to trace my pages

her smiles to grace

the ink as it dries

her voice echoes loudly

i hear her

but her form is gone

i weep

my friend is gone

but her words remain

to cover the stain

and hole in my heart

i will guard and keep

her treasures forever

dear sancheeta

This is the most beautiful way to pay tribute to a friend, Tameka. I have done similar things for those dear to me, and for their families, upon their passing. I write memories down, print them and give them to the family and it soothes on both sides. I know Sancheeta sees this, honey.
    Sending you love. <3

  15. I usually answer each comment on my posts, but for this special one I would like to offer a group hug and prayer. Some of you knew Sancheeta personally, some though, just as I, only got to know her through blogging. I am saddened by her loss, but spirited by the compassion and support we’ve given one another in her memory. I’m sure that is what she would have wanted. Thanks so much for leaving your words of comfort and appreciation for this poem. It was created out of grief, shock and sadness, but I pray that it will bring a smile and some comfort as well. I am blessed to be connected to such loving bloggers. I will continue to pray for Sancheeta’s close friends and family and for her extended blogging family. God Bless us all.

  16. She will be deeply missed 🙁

  17. Andy says:

    My dear Tameka,
I’m already in a fragile place after returning from my brother-in-law’s funeral last night and this tribute of yours just about pushed me over the edge. I have tears in my eyes writing this comment. Sancheeta is no longer with us and we shall miss her, but I will always remember her for her lovely smile. Just beautiful…you did her proud. Thank you.

  18. Andy, I’m so sorry for you and your sister’s loss. I know this is a very emotional time for you. You honor Sancheeta and your brother-in-law by being a vessel of love. Your words of poetry help heal and delight people every day and that is the best way to pay tribute to ones who we lose. Being our best and giving love. Prayers to you Andy and to everyone.
